"As leaders of the world’s richest nations gathered in Pittsburgh for the G-20 summit this past Thursday 24th and Friday 25th of September, thousands took to the streets in protest amidst a heavy police crackdown. Heavily armed riot police were out in force and used tear gas, stun grenades, smoke canisters and sound cannons, which direct extremely loud shrill sounds. It was believed to be the first time sound cannons have been publicly used in the United States. More than 175 people were arrested over two days."

Anjali Kamat reports on Democracy Now:

At Elevate Festival the topic of "sonic warfare" is also part of the Elevate lab and discourse programme, featuring a lecture and q&a session with book author and musician Steve Goodman aka. Kode 9 - on Thursday, 23rd of October. The entrance to this highly recommended lecture is free.

Also important to watch is this noisy video from the streets of Pittsburgh:

and finally - for a bitter but good laugh - check out Jon Stewart's daily humor extraordinaire:

"do you know what kind of music these people, these "anarchists" listen to?"

"that cannon is propably their ringtone right now" :)
